About Jamie Thomas - Thunder Trucks Pro
Jamie Thomas (born October 11, 1974) also known as The Chief, is a Thunder Trucks and Zero Skateboards professional skateboarder and skateboard industry magnate from Dothan, Alabama. He started skateboarding at the age of eleven.
Jamie Thomas was first sponsored in 1992 by Thunder trucks, Spitfire wheels and as a flow rider for Real Skateboards. This prompted him to move to San Francisco with his friends Sean Young and Hurley. While living in San Francisco, Jamie Thomas turned pro for a short-lived company, Experience Skateboards. Thomas then went on to ride for the San Diego based Invisible Skateboards. After relocating to Southern California in 1994, Thomas was featured on the cover of Transworld Skateboard magazine and had parts in the Spitfire and Invisible videos. In 1995 Thomas joined Ed Templeton's Toy Machine. He filmed and directed two Toy Machine videos, the second one being Welcome To Hell. Around this time he started a small clothing company through Toy Machine's distributor Tum Yeto. This company later became Zero Skateboards.
Thomas is the owner and president of Black Box Distribution, the parent company of Mystery Skateboards, Slave Skateboards, Zero Skateboards, and Fallen Footwear
About Mid Height Trucks
Mid height trucks are excellent for all styles of skating and are suitable for wheel sizes up to 56mm without using riser pads. For wheels over 56mm it is recommended to add riser pads or move up to a high truck to prevent wheel bite.
Truck Height Overview
Truck height is the distance between the bottom of the skate deck and the hanger. In general, a mid-sized truck works well for most skateboarders, but high or low trucks may be preferred under these circumstances:
Low: Provides extra stability for flip tricks. Designed for small wheels (up to 53mm).
High: Great for cruising and carving. Designed for large wheels (56mm+).
When choosing between high and low trucks you want to consider the type of skating you do the most. High trucks are good for vert ramps and bowls where low trucks have a lower center of gravity and are good for street skating and doing flip tricks.
