About Tosh Townend - Element Skateboards Pro

Tosh Townend (born March 12, 1985) is a Element Skateboards professional skateboarder from Huntington Beach, California. He turned pro at the age of 16. Tosh Townend got sponsored by Element Skateboards when he was 11, and was on the team until 2008. Tosh Townend's father is Australian Peter Townend, the 1976 surfing world champion. His father would have boards around the house and would let Tosh ride them. Tosh first followed his father's footsteps and surfed. He started surfing in the National Scholastic Surfing Association when he was seven years old and became the NSSA Junior Middle School California Champion in 1996. However, when Peter was working at Rusty, Tosh started skateboarding more and at 11, he won the California Amateur Skateboard League in the 11 and under division, and at 12, the 14 and under division. These wins, and the sponsorships that followed, propelled him into his professional skateboarding career with Element Skateboards.

About Deep Concave

This Element Skateboards deck has a deep concave which means the curvature from edge to edge is more pronounced. Boards with deep concaves tend to suit street skaters as the upturned edges help to increase the board feel and response when performing flip tricks. Deeper concaves can also contribute to the stiffness of a deck which can in crease its pop meaning higher ollies and increased deck life.

About Element Skateboards Naturals Construction

Naturals expands on Element Skateboards tried an true Featherlight construction. They take the Featherlight boards and remove all the coloured veneers to give it a smooth, more organic look. Element Skateboards also use a wood stain to apply a pattern graphic to the top of the deck under the clear coat which gives Naturals a unique look. Element Skateboards Naturals construction is a light weight 7 ply skateboard that is made in a concave that is engineered to provide strength to the thinner wood layers. This is Element Skateboards original construction that still provides an unmatched lightweight feel with the strength and pop you expect from a skateboard.

About Wheel Base

The wheelbase of a skateboard deck is the distance from one pair of inner truck mounting holes to the other inner pair. The average wheelbase is 13"-15" and is determined by the type of skateboarding the deck is designed for, a shorter wheel base increase maneuverability while longer wheelbases have improved stability. A 14" wheelbase is standard for street skating decks, they have better maneuverability than pool, vert and longboard skateboards which require longer wheelbases to help improve their stability at higher speeds.
